Channing Park | Eichler Neighborhood Palo Alto

  • Nestled in the present day Palo Alto neighborhood of Crescent Park is the Eichler subdivision of Channing Park. This was a 57 home development overseen by designer Ashen + Allen. These Eichlers were three- and four-bedrooms, two-bath homes with new features like larger rooms, higher end finishings, and landscaped yards. According to Dave Weinstein at The Eichler Network, “ Eichler was adding amenities to appeal to customers during a buyers' market. Rooms were larger than in most of Eichler's earlier subdivisions, storage increased, cork tile had replaced asphalt flooring, kitchens had natural birch cabinets, and bathrooms were 'glamorized' with larger cabinets and improved materials.” Today, Channing Park is still a beloved Eichler neighborhood with residents who continue to uphold Eichlers ideals of community living. As an older neighborhood, Channing Park has watched Palo Alto and the greater Silicon Valley transform into the bay area we know today. Now, the Palo Alto area is one of the most sought-after places to live in the state. As a worldwide tech hub, Palo Alto is home to companies like HP, Tesla, Skype, and VMware with tech giants Apple, Google, and Facebook all in neighboring cities. The Palo Alto School District is currently ranked #1 in the state of California and there are a plethora of top-ranked private schools in and around the city. Downtown Palo Alto is a charming combination of small-town accessibility and urban ambience. Outdoor cafes, tiny coffee shops, bookstores, mom-and-pop specialty shops, national chains, art galleries, two movie theaters and numerous restaurants attract shoppers, eaters and entertainment-seekers of all ages.
