Community Center  | Eichler Neighborhood Palo Alto

  • The Community Center neighborhood is a diverse and free-spirited community made up of two blocks of Eichler homes. These Eichlers can be found on Melville Avenue, Greenwood Avenue, Harriet Street, and sections of both Harker and Parkinson Avenues.  These homes were a later build for Eichler, construction here began in 1973. The neighborhood as a whole is less compacted than Eichlers original tracts, and the homes are larger 4 bedroom homes with over 2000 square feet of living space. Residents of Community Center claim that their Eichlers are the most upscale, original Eichlers ever built, and supposedly their neighborhood is home to the last Eichler Joseph ever built on Guinda Street. Today Community Center is still a beloved Eichler neighborhood with residents who continue to uphold Eichlers ideals of community living. Residents love the walkability the neighborhood offers to both public schools and parks making it a wonderful place for families. As an older neighborhood, Community Center has watched Palo Alto and the greater Silicon Valley transform into the bay area we know today. Now, the Palo Alto area is one of the most sought-after places to live in the state. As a worldwide tech hub, Palo Alto is home to companies like HP, Tesla, Skype, and VMware with tech giants Apple, Google, and Facebook all in neighboring cities. The Palo Alto School District is currently ranked #1 in the state of California and there are a plethora of top-ranked private schools in and around the city. Downtown Palo Alto is a charming combination of small-town accessibility and urban ambience. Outdoor cafes, tiny coffee shops, bookstores, mom-and-pop specialty shops, national chains, art galleries, two movie theaters and numerous restaurants attract shoppers, eaters and entertainment-seekers of all ages.
