BURLINGAME EICHLER GALLERY
Mills Estates is an Eichler home Tract located in Burlingame California. There are about one hundred Eichler homes in Burlingame and about thirteen hundred more in San Mateo county, with about 11,000 spread throughout the entire Bay Area. The post-WWII housing crisis when demand outstripped supply from returning soldiers and materials shortages led Joe Eichler to evolve his designs.
Joseph Eichler built nearly 11,000 single-family homes in California between the late 1940s and 1960s. He was inspired by the two years he spent living in a Frank Lloyd Wright-designed home in Hillsborough. His goal was to bring modern architecture to the masses while providing new homes. Most of his tract homes are in the bay area, and most in six counties, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Francisco and Marin . There are some Eichlers in Southern California as well and just three outside the state in New York. Burlingame has approximately one hundred Eichler homes according to the Property Nerds at the Boyenga Team, located in the Mills Estate neighborhood.
